‘We are trying to find solutions’ – Nuno gives response on Kane dropping deep

Nuno Espirito Santo has said Tottenham are ‘trying to find solutions’ for Harry Kane dropping deep into midfield in a bid to receive the ball.

The 28-year-old has had a slow start to the season following speculation about his future that dominated the summer transfer window, and has yet to open his Premier League account.

Spurs have had problems getting Kane involved in their games so far, which has seen last season’s Golden Boot and Playmaker winner cut an isolated figure up front.

The striker looked ominous during Spurs’ dismal 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last week, which saw him fail to record a shot on goal or a single touch in the opposition’s penalty area – the first time this has ever happened in his Premier League career.

There was very little improvement made during the loss at home to Chelsea either, which saw Nuno alter Kane’s position to the left wing in an attempt to get him going.

The Spurs coach admitted he has been trying different things in order to get Kane firing again, and insists it will be a team effort to make that happen.

He told Football.London: “We have to find the process inside of the team, analysing all of the players, we have to tell them and find the solutions and the best way.

“Harry started on the left, really high in the previous game and it started well.

“We are now trying to find solutions, reinvent and recreate. Harry is part of our team. Everybody has to be involved.”

Kane has traditionally been a slow starter which we have seen before, but this time it looks a bit more concerning. He has been so isolated in the Premier League games so far, meaning he has to pull himself away just to get a touch of the ball.

It could be a structural issue with the team or a problem of his own, but it needs to be sorted sooner rather than later if Spurs are to be somewhat competitive.
