‘We beat them three times last year’ – Sadio Mane looks ahead to Tottenham clash

Tottenham Hotspur take on Liverpool at Anfield in just over an hour in a 2019 Champions League Final rematch that could have big repercussions for both sides.

A win for Spurs could kickstart their season, while a loss would heap yet more doom and gloom on Pochettino and his boys.

A win for Liverpool would cement their comfortable position at the top of the table, while a loss would see Man City gain ground for the second week in a row.

Liverpool managed to beat the Lilywhites three times last season, including that infamous all-English Champions League Final in Madrid.

Spurs will be out for revenge as they were forced to watch the Reds lift the prestigious trophy, but they come into the match off the back of just four wins from 13 games this season.

Sadio Mane claims that Liverpool are looking forward to the match and he is not sure whether the Champions League defeat will play on Spurs’ minds.

He said (LiverpoolFC): “Mentally, we know our target: we want to win the league. We’re looking forward. At the moment, we just try to concentrate game by game – and especially to try to win all of them.

“I’m not sure if it [CL Final defeat] will impact their minds. I don’t know them, I don’t know what’s in their minds.

“But, for us, it will be a very positive impact. We beat them three times last year – it’s another motivation for us to go again and try to beat them like we did last season. It’s really positive for us, mentally.

“We’re looking forward to a tough game. Everything is possible for us at Anfield.”
