“We carry on working” – What some of the Spurs players said on Twitter after beating Real Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur overcame Real Madrid 1-0 in the opening game of the Audi Cupat the Allianz Arena in Munich yesterday. The goal came midway into the first half when Real Madrid defender Marcelo’s poor back pass was intercepted by Harry Kane.

The Spurs striker took two touches to get away from Sergio Ramos before slotting the ball underneath Keylor Navas in the Madrid goal.

Mauricio Pochettino named a very strong line up for the first half with the likes of Danny Rose and Christian Eriksen also being handed their first start of the pre-season campaign.

The Lilywhites dominated proceedings for most of the game even though the Spanish giants had a decent spell in the second half.

Oliver Skipp, who has been one of Spurs’ best players in the pre-season games so far, continued to impress, while Troy Parrott was unlucky not to double the lead when his strike came off the post late in the second half.

As always, fitness is the most important aspect of these preseason games and so it was good to see the team getting a good run out in what was a competitive match.

Tottenham’s new boy Tanguy Ndombele also seems to be getting adjusted to the players around him, and it is already clear that the French international will go on to become an important player for the side.
