“We complement each other well” – Tottenham pair discuss their solid partnership

If you had told Spurs fans before the start of the season that the team’s first choice central midfield pairing would be Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks, most would have probably panicked and expected the team to struggle.

However, the pair have formed a formidable partnership in the middle of the park and have been pivotal to Spurs’ title challenge this season. With Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama spending a lot of time on the treatment table this season and Mousa Dembele departing the club in January, Winks and Sissoko have had to play almost every game through a busy period.

Both of them have started together in the 14 of the last 18 games in all competitions and eight of the last nine in the Premier League. Yet, they have shown tremendous fitness levels, getting up and down the pitch all game.

Winks and Sissoko have now spoken to the club’s official website about their partnership and how much they have enjoyed playing with each other. The England man said that the pair complement each other really well.

“I really enjoy playing in the team with Moussa,” said the 23-year old academy graduate.

“We complement each other well. We’ve had a partnership for the last couple of months now and it’s been going really well.

“We’re getting results and that’s the most important thing but we both help the team out as much as we possibly can in our own individual ways and I’m just thankful that in the games we’re getting the results we need.”

Meanwhile, the Frenchman said that playing with Winks was easy and that the young midfielder is on his way to becoming a superstar.

“I said a few days ago, I think game by game we are getting a better understanding of each other, so we are doing well, not because of us, but the team,” said Moussa.

“We are doing well so to play with a player like him is easy. We’ve tried to enjoy the games and I think we show that every time.

“Harry is very young but he has a lot of qualities and a lot of talent. Now he needs to keep going in the same direction, keep working and keep improving and I’m sure he’ll become a superstar with Spurs.”
