Jermain Defoe has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have a shot at winning the Premier League title this season on the back of the way the Lillywhites have started the season.
Defoe was part of some impressive teams during his two spells at White Hart Lane but none that came close to winning the league.
It was only after the prolific striker moved on from Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino arrived, that the Lilywhites genuinely threatened to win the title.
However, despite coming close under Pochettino on a couple of occasions, the team ultimately failed to get over the line.
This year feels a lot different as Jose Mourinho’s Spurs seem to have a lot more belief and also look capable of winning games when they are not at their best.
Defoe believes that Spurs stand a great chance of upsetting the applecart and winning their first league title in 60 years, now that they have a proven winner like Mourinho at the helm.
When asked if his former side can go all the way this season, the Rangers striker told the Mennie Talks podcast: “Of course they can.
“It’s not me being biased, I’m just looking at the performances.
“We have Mourinho and we are playing the way we are, so anything can happen.”
