‘We have received many proposals’ – Spurs defender’s agent speaks on client’s future

Japhet Tanganga’s agent has admitted his client has received several loan offers this summer, while refusing to rule out the possibility of the defender leaving Tottenham before the end of the month.

Tanganga has shown plenty of promise whenever he has been handed opportunities over the last year and a half but injury issues and a lack of game time have halted his progress.

Reports indicated two weeks ago that the 22-year-old could complete a loan move to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo decided to show faith in the defender, starting him at right-back in his first competitive game in charge against Manchester City.

Tanganga certainly repaid his manager’s faith, producing a Man of the Match display as he kept both Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling quiet.

The Spurs academy graduate will be hoping that he has forced himself into Nuno’s thoughts with that performance.

Tanganga’s agent, Roberto De Fanti, has now admitted that Tottenham will not consider selling Tanganga permanently this summer.

He told TuttoMercatoWeb: “We have received many proposals for a loan because Tottenham firmly believes in the player and does not want to grant a sale.

“The market is constantly evolving, already two years ago he had to be loaned and then [José] Mourinho made him one of the pillars of his defence before Covid.

“There are still days before the market closes, we will see what happens. He comes from a great recognition, that is a man of the match on the occasion of the last match [against City].”

Spurs Web Opinion

Tanganga has never let the team down whenever he has been handed an opportunity. I believe the 22-year-old has the perfect attributes to either play as a right-centre-back in a back three or a defensive right-back in a lopsided back four, which is why I do not see the point in singing Tomiyasu.
