‘We have the capacity’ – Lucas Moura makes bold claim about Tottenham’s title hopes

Lucas Moura has confidently claimrf in the pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham’s Europa League clash against Ludogorets that the team has the capacity to win the Premier League title.

With around a quarter of the season gone so far, Tottenham now sit at the top of the table, a scenario that few would have imagined at the start of the campaign.

Had the Lilywhites not thrown away points at home against Newcastle and West Ham, they could have potentially been four points clear at the top by now.

However, Jose Mourinho and Eric Dier have both downplayed talks of a title tilt, insisting that the team will continue taking it one game at a time.

Moura was a lot braver as he suggested that the squad is good enough to go all the way this season.

As quoted by Football.London, the Brazilian said: “I think we are building a very good mentality for the season and we made very good signings in the summer. We know how difficult is the Premier League. But why not to think to win the Premier League? I think we have the capacity to win and I know it is too early to speak about this.

“There are a lot of games to play. We need to think about this and fight for this. Every game that we play, every time we are on the pitch, we need to think we are able to win the Premier League. And we need to think that every game is important. That is why in every game we are trying to show this mentality and going very well. I hope that we keep it going this way. I am very positive.”

The 28-year-old insisted that the players are focused on not letting any points slip each time they take the field as every point could be crucial come the end of the season.

When asked if this could be Tottenham’s year, Moura responded: “I have a very good feeling about this season. I know that it’s too early to speak about a trophy, but to win the PL every game is important.

“And I know at the end of the season the points we get now will be very important, that’s why we need to think of every game like a final and be competitive and be aggressive. And do our best. But like I said, we need to believe and trust in our team and our club. And believe it’s possible because in football everything is possible, and that’s it.”
