‘We have to be worried’ – Man Utd star makes admission about top-four race

Bruno Fernandes has admitted that while Manchester United have to be worried about the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal chasing them down, he insisted the Red Devils are focused on chasing down Chelsea.

It seemed as though Tottenham’s hopes of finishing in the top four had all but dissipated after the North Londoners missed a golden chance to close the gap with their rivals by falling to two successive defeats at home to Southampton and Wolves.

However, Antonio Conte’s side showed that they still cannot be counted out from the race for Champions League qualification with their impressive display against the reigning Premier League champions on Saturday

Spurs currently sit seven points behind Man Utd in fourth place but have three games in hand over the Red Devils. The Lilywhites will be hoping that the win over City can be the springboard to help them go on a run of decent results.

Fernandes has urged his United teammates to focus on the teams above them rather than the likes of Spurs.

The Portuguese international told Premier League Productions (20/02/22 at 7:10 pm): “We are looking forward. We want to catch those that are in front of us (Chelsea).

“Obviously, we have to be worried about who comes behind us. But our goal always has to be to go forward.

“Forward is to look at third place and try to catch Chelsea. I know they are far, but nothing is impossible. When I arrive here at the club, we were 12 points behind third place and we did that, so why not?”

Man Utd do seem to be getting used to the demands of Rangnick’s system and as things stand, they are the favourites to take the fourth spot.

However, I believe that there are plenty more twists and turns to come in the top-four race, with a third of the season still left to go.
