‘We have to find solutions’ – Nuno on defeat to Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espirito Santo believes his side have to ‘find solutions’ after suffering a miserable defeat at home to Chelsea.

The loss sees Spurs fall to a second consecutive 3-0 defeat in the Premier League, after winning their first three games of the season.

Spurs simply fell away in the second half of proceedings, with goals from Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger sealing the points for Thomas Tuchel’s travelling side.

But it was a promising display from Spurs in the first period, with the home side pressing the Blues and catching them cold with their aggressive style of play.

Although the second half was ultimately a polar opposite, Spurs boss Nuno believes that positives should be taken away from the clash in north London, in what was a very disappointing outcome to a game with ever-high stakes.

He told Football.London: “We have to find solutions. Since the beginning this is our focus, to find players to perform and the partnership. I honestly believe that the first half was really good, the attitude, the energy and the spirit. If there’s one positive to take from this game it’s the first half.”

Spurs essentially retreated into their shell in the second half and failed to capitalise on their intensity in the opening 45 minutes. Nuno’s side really needed to come away with a lead after their first half display and their failure to do so made life much tougher, with Chelsea massively improving on their showing.
