‘We hope’ – Player desperate to see manager stay amid Spurs rumours

Inter Milan striker, Lautaro Martinez, has admitted that he and his teammates are desperate for Antonio Conte to stay at the club amidst rumours linking the Italian with the Tottenham job.

Conte has done wonders since taking over at the San Siro and this has re-established him as one of the best managers in the world, guiding Inter to a historic Scudetto.

However, the former Chelsea boss’ future at the club is in doubt, with reports suggesting that he could be forced to resign due to the side’s dire financial situation as the hierarchy plan on asking playing staff and coaching staff to take substantial salary cuts.

It has been claimed that Tottenham have already sounded out to Conte, who could be tempted by a move to the North London club if Inter do not give him assurances over transfers (Express).

Martinez admitted that the players have a special relationship with the 51-year-old and claimed it would be disappointing to see him leave.

When asked about the speculation surrounding Conte’s future, the Argentine told Libero (as relayed by FC Inter News): “We hope he will stay, in these two years we have all made great steps forward.

“There are never quarrels with him and he always tries to get the most out of everyone, even in training.

“He lives football in a special way, he called me after the Copa America (in 2019) and we immediately understood each other. He made me grow a lot.”
