‘We know what this game means’ – Pochettino previews the North London Derby

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal will clash heads for the first time this season at the Emirates on Sunday, with early bragging rights up for grabs.

It has been a while since Spurs have won away to the Gunners, and after suffering a shock defeat to Newcastle last weekend, now would be a better time than ever.

Spurs have finished above Arsenal in each of the last three seasons and the aim will be to continue this run and secure Champions League football again.

The Gunners also come into the match off the back of a defeat against 100% Liverpool at the weekend, with the Scousers winning 3-1.

Pochettino will have to decide whether to recall the dropped Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen to the starting line up, two players who have been senior starters over the past five years.

Whatever team he picks, the Argentine gaffer ensures that he understands what this game means to the club.

He said (Football London): “Always you need to win. If you came from a not good result like we did you need to win. If you came from a good result you need to win again. The criticism in football comes when you don’t win. It’s not important what happened in the past, only what happens now, in the present. We know well what this game means. I’m lucky to be involved in this type of game. I love to play this type of game ad I am so excited and optimistic that we will perform in our best way.”
