Some Spurs fans on social media have been left excited following reports that the North Londoners are about to complete a deal for Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius.
Multiple sources including Football.London’s Alasdair Gold and Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (via Goncalo Lopez) have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Benfica to sign the Brazilian on a season-long loan deal, with the option to make it permanent for around €45 million next summer.
After signing for the Portuguese giants in a deal worth £15million last summer, the striker enjoyed a prolific campaign for the Eagles, managing 27 goals in all competitions (transkermarkt.com).
While some Spurs fans admitted that they did not know much about the 25-year-old, they were delighted to hear that he was Mourinho’s first choice.
Some really liked the look of Vinicius and suggested that he was a typical Mourinho type of striker due to his physicality.
Here is how some fans have reacted to reports that the striker is said to be Spurs bound:
FINALLY A STRIKER!

Carlos Vinicius:
His 18 Primera Liga goals last season were scored in just 1,760 minutes, equivalent to 19 games.
6 of his 18 goals were scored after coming on as a substitute.
He finished top scorer in the Primer Liga last season.

Carlos Vinicius is a very José-esque striker – big, strong and physical, good pace, solid in hold up and a clinical finisher – very similar profile to his previous striker signings – Drogba, Diego Costa, Lukaku
(not saying he will be as good as these guys but who knows)

Carlos Vinicius hive now open pic.twitter.com/LKwNYoiZky— harry (@thfchxrry) October 1, 2020
Signing Carlos Vinicius would work out perfectly for Spurs, we have him on loan so don't have to pay the fee made available for the striker.
Instead, we can use it to sign Skriniar + the £15m for Europa Qualification if we win tonight.
And in the end, we get two top players. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/Q4KBFbpCRH

Never seen Carlos Vinicius play, but hearing reports he’s been Jose’s number 1 striker target since the window opened so can’t complain at all. Get Skriniar done now and our squad is looking very decent.

Carlos vinicius is such a hidden talent, totally giving me drogba vibes

Aware Carlos Vinícius is a slightly unknown proposition, but getting a 24-goal striker who *seems* to fit the bill on a try-before-you-buy basis so there’s still money in the jar for a new centre-back… We’d be looking at Tottenham’s best-ever window, right?

All I’m saying is Carlos Vinicius is the best Brazilian striker in the premier league.

Spurs Web Opinion
To me, Vicinius looks a lot like a left-footed Emmanuel Adebayor. He seems to possess the physicality and strengthen to play with his back to gold and hold up the ball, while also possessing the pace to run in behind the defence in counter-attacks.
He looks like he has quick feet and smart movement but does not seem like the best of finishers, with many of his goals coming about as a result of being in the right place at the right time. He looks like someone who will get plenty of assists.
