‘We need him’ – International boss sends message to Spurs target after contract u-turn

Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni has urged rumoured Tottenham target Paulo Dybala to be in optimal physical condition ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

Dybala’s current contract with Juventus runs out in the summer and the Serie A club’s CEO Maurizio Arrivabene has admitted the forward will not be renewing his deal at the Allianz Stadium (TuttoMercatoWeb).

90 min have claimed that the 28-year-old’s agent is in contact with Tottenham ahead of a potential summer transfer but added that the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City are also keeping an eye on his situation.

In addition, the Juve star is also thought to be on the radars of Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Barcelona (Sky Italia) with the Old Lady accused of breaking their agreement with Dybala despite shaking hands on a deal back in October (Mirror).

Dybala was not called to the Argentina squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Ecuador but Scaloni has insisted that the Juve star remains an important player for La Albiceleste.

He said (via Gianluca Di Marzio): “I talked to Dybala when we completed the preliminary list because he was catching up [in terms of fitness].

“He is not up for discussion. But we need him to show up at the training camp in optimal conditions when called up.

“We are not doing him a favour if we include him in the group and he is not in form. There is time for the World Cup, and we need him to be well.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Dybala would certainly be keen to go into the World Cup in November in peak physical condition and so, he would want to join a club where he is guaranteed to play every week.

However, I am not convinced that Tottenham will push too hard for the Argentine, given his injury record as well as Kulusevski’s impressive displays since arriving at the club.
