‘We need to do more’ – Pochettino not content with quarter finals spot

Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the quarter finals of the Champions League last night with a 1-0 away win against Borussia Dortmund.

This second leg victory made in 4-0 on aggregate, making Spurs one of the first teams through to the final eight.

Many believed Spurs would be able to hang on away in Germany, but few thought they would go there and win the game.

After Harry Kane finished his one-on-one in the second half, it left Dortmund needing five to overturn toe result, effectively killing the tie off.

Spurs equal their best ever run in the quarter finals, alongside the Harry Redknapp led campaign back in 2011.

That year Tottenham were knocked out by Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate, but they will be looking to be far more competitive in this year’s quarters.

Despite this success, Pochettino is still not content with the achievement, and as usual wants to drive on and keep progressing to the next level.

He said (Football London): “For me to move to the next level or the last level, I think it’s not only today to show a very professional performance how we showed. We need to do more. We need to be in a different position. Of course it’s so important to be in the quarter-final but in the end you need to show more if you want to be at the next level and stay there. To build that possibility to be at the same level as the clubs that we are talking about you need to start from the first step always. I don’t know if we are in the middle or 70% of moving forward. Still the room that we need to achieve to be there, but I think that we are working hard to be there. I think the stadium is going to be so important step for the club to be in a good position in the future.”
