‘We need you’ – Cristian Romero sends message to his Tottenham teammate

Cristian Romero has taken to social media to send a message to Giovani Lo Celso insisting that Tottenham ‘need’ him in the wake of the disappointing defeat to Liverpool at the weekend.

Lo Celso has been heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer, with various outlets suggesting that the midfielder is not happy with his lack of game time at the North London club this season and is seeking a fresh challenge (Estadio Deportivo).

However, last week, Football Insider suggested that Spurs want to keep him at the club beyond this summer.

The report claimed that despite the Argentine’s lack of game time over recent months, Ange Postecoglou sees him as a valuable member of the squad.

Giovani Lo Celso deserves more game time at Tottenham

The publication added that Spurs may hold ‘surprise’ contract talks with the 28-year-old and could look to tie him down to a new deal this summer.

It remains to be seen if Lo Celso would be inclined to stay but Romero certainly appears to be doing his part to convince the midfielder to do so.

The centre-back has taken to his Instagram to write to his teammate: “I love you, brother, we need you.” which came in response to Lo Celso’s post where he praised Romero and fellow central defender Micky van de Ven.

The only way Ange Postecoglou could convince Lo Celso to stick around at the club is if the Aussie coach gives the midfielder consecutive starts over the coming weeks.

One could argue that the Argentine is certainly deserving of those opportunities as he has not done a lot wrong this season whenever he has played and it was baffling that Bryan Gil was chosen ahead of him to come off the bench in the recent defeat at Chelsea.
