“We take it game by game” – Tottenham midfielder discusses team’s title chances

Tottenham have managed to win three consecutive Premier League games against Fulham, Watford and Newcastle courtesy of late goals, potentially gate-crashing crashing what many considered to be a two horse race for the title between Manchester City and Liverpool.

What’s even more impressive is that Tottenham achieved this feat without Harry Kane and Dele Alli, both of whom are out injured.

While Spurs were largely ruled out of the title race after a home loss against Wolves in late December followed by a further defeat at the hands of Manchester United in January, many have now once again started taking notice of the Lillywhites after their recent victories.

One of Tottenham’s key players this season, Harry Winks has now spoken about Spurs’ chances of pipping City and Liverpool to the title.

The 23-year-old who came up with the late winner against Fulham last month insisted that Spurs aren’t getting carried away with the title talk.

Speaking to The Independent, Winks said, “It’s difficult, we lost to Wolves and people said that we were out of the title race and it’s time for us to get top four and then we won against Newcastle and people say we are back in it.

“We don’t really get involved in that whirlwind, all we do is take it game by game and focus on the next opposition.

“At the end of the season, we will be looking into that and see where the title is.

“We have still got Man City to go to and Liverpool to go to, they are two games that if we want to be title contenders we have to win, for now, we are happy with the position we are in, we are doing really well and that is the most important thing.”
