Tottenham saw out a narrow victory over Fulham this evening to record back-to-back wins in the Premier League, with another much-needed three points.
Thanks to the victory, the Lilywhites now find themselves just three points behind West Ham in fourth, back in the race for Champions League football next season.
Dele Alli was back in the Premier League starting line-up for the first time since the opening day of the season against Everton and marked the occasion with a fine performance.
While it eventually went down as an own goal, it was Dele who forced the only strike of the match, flicking Heung-min Son’s superb cross towards goal before it deflected in.
Tottenham looked impressive in the opening 45 minutes, pressing high and hunting in packs. However, they slipped into bad habits in the second half as they sank back into their shells and attempted to defend what they had.
It was only thanks to a generous VAR call that the Lilywhites held on to all three points.
Jose Mourinho had this to say after the final whistle (Football London): “Important win.
“We need points and of course three better than one. I think we clearly showed from the first minute that we wanted that.
“First half was good but the second half was harder. When we made the changes we added fresh energy and we had the best chances in the last 10-15 minutes.”
