‘We were the better team’ – Nuno reveals positives to take from West Ham defeat

Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo has claimed that Spurs were the better team in their 1-0 defeat to West Ham United this afternoon.

Spurs fell to a narrow loss in the second half against the Hammers when Antonio managed to break free of a lazy piece of Harry Kane defending to turn home a corner kick.

The Lilywhites had chances of their own earlier in the game, with Kane forcing a good save from Fabianski and Lucas Moura firing over in the first half.

However, the second 45 was rather toothless from Tottenham and the home side were able to see out the game in relative comfort at the London Stadium.

Nuno was asked whether there were any positives to take from the defeat and he admitted there were not many, but argued it highlighted aspects that Tottenham could improve on as they move forwards.

Asked about any positives, he said (Jonathan Veal): “Not too many but when you lose a game like today that I believe we were the better team, the only positive is that there are aspects to improve that will guide us to winning more football matches.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Defensively, I thought Tottenham were pretty impressive today. It was just that one Reguilon mistake and poor effort from Kane that cost them the game. Unfortunately, it appears they cannot juggle defending well and creating chances.
