Tottenham Hotspur revealed late last night that Victor Wanyama’s time in North London had come to an end after a deal was agreed with Montreal Impact (Spurs official).
The Kenyan captain struggled to feature for Spurs this season, with just four appearances in all competitions totalling 122 minutes and just one start in the embarrassing Carabao Cup loss at Colchester United in September (Transfermarkt).
Wanyama joined Tottenham from Southampton in 2016 for £11million and was a regular in his first season under Mauricio Pochettino (BBC).
The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Belgian side Club Brugge during the summer transfer window only for the rumoured £13.6million deal to fail to materialise.
In recent years, the former Celtic player has struggled with knee injuries which curbed his progress in North London and saw him fall behind the likes of Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Eric Dier, Tanguy Ndombele and Oliver Skipp in the midfield pecking order.
Here is how some Spurs fans reacted to news of Wanyama’s departure.
Best of luck Victor. Thanks for the memories and for putting your body on the line for us. pic.twitter.com/2UFK8HTFu9

Was absolutely incredible in the 16/17 season, but injuries fucked him over. Didn't have the legs anymore. Good luck Kenyan King!
