Newcastle United are being linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Alan Hutton.

The Scottish international is currently on loan at Sunderland, where Steve Bruce has expressed an interest in signing him on a permanent basis in the summer following some impressive displays.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been quoted as claiming that Hutton has already spoken to Newcastle.  Hutton cost Spurs around £9million in January 2008 and Tottenham want to recoup the majority of the fee.

Redknapp said: “I think Newcastle want him as well. They tell me Newcastle are after him. I think you will find Newcastle are in for him as well. I don’t know.

“Someone has told me he has been talking to Newcastle. He is not supposed to be but he has, you know. We will only let him go if we get an awful lot of money for him, otherwise he comes back to Tottenham.”

  1. i think hutton is a good player on the pitch.he is good tackler and also an overlapping defender.its likely his off the field performance, killed his career at spurs.

  2. 'We will only let him go if we get an awful lot of money for him' . .. . . . . . . Ten Green Shield stamps and a bottle of Tizer and he's yours.

  3. You've got to love Harry sometimes. Personally I think this is Redknapp's way of revenge for Hutton coming out last weeks say "Spurs were mad to let Bent go". I certainly think there'll be a few mad Sunderland fans under the belief Alan has been talking to their local enemy. Nice one Harry, you smacked him up, just like the drunk did his dad!

  4. sell him quick. he was bloody useless at the lane and will not get any better. but try to get more money from him. 7 millions maybe?

  5. come on you guys, when he first played for us he was good, knowing us we probably killed his confidence, and now he is playing better for sunderland, makes you think hey.
