‘We will see’ – Conte speaks about his family still staying behind in Italy

Antonio Conte has been speaking about having to live in London on his own in a hotel while his family have remained in Italy over the last 11 months.

Football.London reveal that Conte’s wife Elisabetta and his teenage daughter Vittoria remained in Italy when the former Inter and Chelsea boss took on the job in North London in November of last year.

The report explains that Vittoria is studying in her final years of secondary school back home and the Spurs boss regularly takes flights back to Italy after Tottenham matches to spend his days off with his family.

Both Elisabetta and Vittoria usually fly to London to stay with the Spurs boss during holidays, and Conte suggested that it is not an arrangement that is set to change anytime soon.

He told Football.London: “You know very well the importance of the family for everybody.

“Last season, everything happened in November so quickly that it was really difficult to change the situation for my family.

“Now I have a daughter that at the moment I have to respect is her moment because she’s growing and to change many schools I think is not good.

“For sure, I know very well that she loves London, my daughter. Now I think I’m really focused, really focused because we decided to go in this way with my family, also in this season and then we will see.

“We will see in the future to try to find the best solution, but you know, when you have a family, I think it’s right to respect the family and also sometimes if you have to put the family in front of you and also in your choice sometimes.”

Conte is said to currently live in an apartment within a central London hotel and he revealed that the owners of the hotel have taken him into their family over the last 11 months.

When asked if the benefits of having his washing and cleaning done regularly outweigh the negatives of long-term hotel life, the Italian responded: “For sure [there are advantages], it was a really good choice in this aspect! (laughs).

“Then, honestly, I live in the hotel and now the people and the owner, I’m part of their family. They consider me a person that lives there and, for this reason, I want also to use this moment to say thanks because they treat me very well.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Some might be tempted to view the fact that Conte’s family have remained in Italy as perhaps a sign that the 53-year-old is not convinced his Tottenham project is a long-term one.

However, in this case, it simply appears to be an arrangement that works for his family and perhaps they will make a different decision if Conte signs a long-term contract with the club.
