Harry Redknapp has vowed to fine David Bentley the maximum amount after the Tottenham winger was banned from driving for a year and fined £600 for drink driving.
The club fine is likely to cost the England international £100,000 after he admitted the offence after he had drunk four pints and two shots of spirits while attending a gig.
Redknapp said: “Sounds like he’s been very lucky. He’s very lucky to get away with only a year for drink driving.”
On the severity of the fine Redknapp added: “Peanuts, isn’t it? In terms of what the players earn. He’s been lucky. What he has to do now is learn his lesson from that and make sure he never does that again because he has been let off very lightly in my opinion.”
“We’ll fine him the maximum we can fine him,” said Redknapp.
