“We’ll give our all for our fans” insists Serge Aurier ahead of Premier League run-in

Tottenham defender, Serge Aurier has insisted that he and his teammates will give their all for the Lilywhite fans ahead of the Premier League run-in.

Spurs travel to Sheffield on Thursday for their first visit to Bramall Lane since the 2015 Capital One Cup semi-final (BBC).

Despite the fact that Sheffield have been punching well above their weight in the Premier League this season, Aurier believes that Spurs can use the neutral atmosphere to their advantage.

“Before, with the fans, it pushed the players,” explained Aurier to the Spurs website.

“When we have the fans, it is much easier for me… we play football for that, we play for the fans, we play for people to come to the stadium. That always gave us big motivation.

Since the return to Premier League football earlier this month, Spurs have picked up four points in their two games against Manchester United and West Ham.

“The best way to give energy to the fans though is to win these games. We know everyone is watching. The gaffer said it to us during the last game, and I think it’s right, that when we play, we need to understand that everyone is watching.

“There might not be anyone watching in the stadium, but they are all watching on the TV. So, we need to give our all for them and we need to feel how they feel at home,” Aurier added.

However, Manchester United’s scintillating form has meant Spurs are still chasing that illustrious fifth place which could potentially to be enough to claim Champions League qualification if Manchester City’s UEFA ban is upheld.

With eight games left to play, Spurs still have to play Sheffield United, Everton, Bournemouth, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Leicester City and Crystal Palace.

It is so important for the club to claim a spot in Europe but, at the minute, it looks as if the Europa League is our likely European tournament. However, it is positive to hear the players are up for the challenge despite a tough run-in.
