Lucas Moura has claimed Tottenham will give their all in the London derby clash against Chelsea on Sunday and will aim to use the return of the Spurs fans to their advantage.
Spurs come into the weekend amidst a bit of minor turbulence, having lost in their last Premier League outing to Crystal Palace and sneaking a draw at Rennes in the Europa Conference League during midweek.
It does not get much easier, though, with fast starters Chelsea rolling into N17 having picked up 10 points from their opening four games.
Spurs are winless in their last five outings against the Blues in the Premier League, and Moura hopes Nuno Espirito Santo’s side can put that right this weekend.
Despite being a doubt to make the fixture at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after picking up a knock to his ankle against Rennes, Moura says the squad knows what this fixture means and will try to feed off the atmosphere to put in on a show against the European champions.
Moura told the club’s official website: “We know what this means for the fans, and especially when you have them back at the stadium, it is amazing.
“For sure the stadium, the ambience, the atmosphere will be amazing like against City, and we know what it means.
“For the fans, we’ll give our best, do our best and fight to the end. It’s a different game when we play against this kind of team, it is a different game, and the motivation is different. We need to take all that in a positive way and do it for the fans.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Moura will likely be a game-time decision where his fitness will be monitored over the next couple of days. Spurs are in a tricky situation already this season, and will need to feed off the atmosphere from the fans if they are to register what is a scalp against a very well drilled Chelsea side.
