“We’ll have him out for a while” – Mourinho reveals injury blow after Newcastle draw

Jose Mourinho has revealed that Heung-min Son has suffered a hamstring injury during Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle United.

The South Korean was named in Spurs’ starting eleven to face the Magpies at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and was taken off at half time and replaced by Steven Bergwijn.

Mourinho believes that Son’s problem is not good news and expects the 28-year-old to be out of action for a while.

Son had been in a rich vein of form coming into today’s match having scored five goals in four matches in all competitions this season (transfermarkt).

When asked about Son, Mourinho told Football.London: “It’s an injury. We’ll have him out for a while. It’s his hamstring.”

News of Son’s hamstring injury certainly rubs salt into the wounds of Tottenham after they were robbed of all three points against Newcastle due to the VAR incident.

With matches continuing to come thick and fast, with the visit of Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, Son’s absence puts even more pressure on Harry Kane to lead the front line.
