Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, has admitted that he is happy at the La Liga club.
Hugo Lloris remains Tottenham’s first choice between the sticks, with the Frenchman showing no signs of decline despite being 35 years of age.
Spurs signed Fraser Forster this summer to replace Pierluigi Gollini as Lloris’ understudy for the upcoming season but with the France international now in the twilight of his career, the North London club might start looking towards his long-term successor.
One name who is mooted to be on Tottenham’s radar is Mamardashvili, with Marca reporting earlier this summer that the Lilywhites were battling Manchester United for the 21-year-old’s signature.
The Georgia international impressed at the Mestalla during the 2021/22 season, having shared the number one duties with Jasper Cillessen, making a total of 18 league appearances (Transfermarkt).
Mamardashvili has now played down suggestions that he could be on his way out of Valencia this summer.
The shot-stopper told Plaza Deportiva: “I have a 2+1 contract with Valencia and I’m happy. I really like Valencia as a city, I like the people.”
When specifically quizzed about interest from Man Utd and Tottenham, he responded: “I see it but now the first thing is Valencia. Then we’ll see.
“It is very important for me to be happy and I am happy, I like the team, I like the city.”

Even though I expect Lloris to remain Tottenham’s number one for the next two seasons, Paratici will likely be on the lookout for the Frenchman’s long-term replacement.
Mamardashvili would be an appealing option for Spurs as he is extremely young for a goalkeeper, and is excellent both in terms of shot-stopping and with the ball at his feet.
Given Valencia’s financial situation, Tottenham might feel that the 21-year-old could be prized away from the Mestalla this summer. I would not be surprised if Spurs sign the youngster and loan him out.
