West Brom desperate to hang on to Tottenham target

Tottenham are likely to invest considerably in the squad in the summer, not having signed a single player in the last couple of transfer windows.

One area that needs immediate addressing is the middle of the park, as Spurs find themselves desperately short of numbers in center midfield, after the departure of Mousa Dembele in January.

With Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama both facing sustained spells on the sidelines this season due to injuries, Tottenham have had to rely on Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks to play nearly every game.

So, it is not surprising that the club have been linked with a whole host of midfield players recently. The latest player to be linked with Spurs is West Brom younger Rekeem Harper. The 18-year-old who has come through the ranks at the Championship club has featured for the baggies 13 times this season.

According to the Bristol Post, Tottenham have expressed their interest in bringing the 18-year-old to North London. The report, however, claims that West Brom are desperate to hang on to Harper and are currently discussing a new deal with him.

While Harper fits the bill of a Tottenham signing, adding him to the squad might potentially affect the development of the likes of Oliver Skipp and Luke Amos, who are highly rated at the club.
