West Ham complete the signing of reported Spurs target

Tottenham Hotspur have yet to sign a player in the last 16 months, and they will no longer be securing the signature of Villarreal’s Pablo Fornals.

Spurs were linked with the 23-year-old in the past week, but he has now secured a move to Tottenham’s bitter rivals West Ham United. Arsenal were also said to be interested in the ex-Villarreal man (Sun).

The Spanish forward has joined the Hammers for a reported fee of £24m and will join up with the side after the Euro U21 tournament finishes (BBC).

Fornals scored four goals last season from a central midfield position, including three in Europe.

However, reports are now claiming that West Ham’s signing could do Spurs a favour, as the two London sides were also said to be competing for Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos (Daily Star).

If West Ham have already found their new central midfield man, they may be less likely to hinder Spurs’ chances of signing Ceballos (El Des Marque).
