Tottenham push hard to win transfer race as West Ham give up altogether

Tottenham’s chances of landing Angel Gomes have just been boosted as a new report has shed light on what West Ham United have decided to do as Spurs continue to push to sign the Lille man.

There is no doubt that a number of Premier League clubs will be keeping an eye on Gomes’ situation as the midfielder edges close to becoming a free agent.

Tottenham are thought to be one of those clubs, with various outlets suggesting over recent weeks that Spurs have reached out to Gomes’ representatives regarding a summer switch.

However, a few days ago, it emerged that West Ham had overtaken Tottenham in the race for Gomes, with the Hammers looking to tie up an early deal.

West Ham make Angel Gomes transfer decision

TBR Football have now handed Tottenham Hotspur a boost by revealing that West Ham have called off their pursuit of the Lille man for the time being.

It is explained that the Hammers first made an approach for the 24-year-old back in January and have even put a lucrative deal on the table for the player.

However, the East London club are now of the belief that Gomes’ representatives are using their offer as a negotiation tool with other sides and have thus decided to take their proposal off the table.

It is explained that Graham Potter’s men could return to the table later on, but only if the midfielder indicates a willingness to move to the London Stadium.

Tottenham remain hopeful of landing Angel Gomes

TBR Football go onto to reveal that more than half-a-dozen clubs have made offers to Gomes, but it is Tottenham who are ‘pushing hard’ to win the race for him.

The Lilywhites are said to be hopeful that the Man Utd academy graduate will greenlight a free transfer to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The outlet adds that Ange Postecoglou sees the Lille man as the ideal option to add depth to his midfield options alongside the likes of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Pape Matar Sarr.
