West Ham player wants to test himself against ‘top’ Spurs counterpart

Tottenham Hotspur were active in the summer transfer window, managing to bring in two highly regarded midfielders in Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso, while also managing to nab two talented youngsters in Ryan Sessegnon and Jack Clarke.

Arguably the most impressive of those signings was the capture of Ndombele Lyon, considering a number big clubs in Europe were reported to be interested in him (MEN).

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has now insisted that is looking forward to going up against the French international this season.

He said he has heard rave reviews about the new Spurs signing and now can’t wait to lock horns against him on the field.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Rice said: “I’m really looking forward to playing against Ndombele. I watched him in the Champions League last season and he looked like a top, top player.

“The French boys here were raving about him, saying what a good player he was, so I’m looking forward to playing against Spurs and looking forward to playing against him.”

The 20-year-old also backed Tottenham to contest for the Premier League title on the back of the signings they have made. However, he did shoot out a warning suggesting that West Ham could be the surprise package of the season.

The midfielder added, “Everything they’re (Tottenham) doing now and the player’s they’ve got, they’ve definitely got the squad now to be challenging up there for titles, and I wouldn’t put it past them.”

“We’ve really strengthened the squad as well. We’ve brought in some great players and have spent a lot of money and I think we’re one to look for this season, for sure.”
