West Ham striker admits that ‘greedy’ Spurs star has left him surprised this season

West Ham United forward, Michail Antonio has admitted that he has been left surprised by the way in which Harry Kane has adapted his game and become the provider in chief for Tottenham this season.

Spurs fans have known for the best part of six years that Kane is one of the most well-rounded strikers in the world.

His passing and vision have always been some of the 27-year-old’s best assets but they have not received as much praise as his finishing ability over the years.

However, that seems to have changed this season with pundits now praising the England captain’s all-round game.

His attributes have become much more evident in the slightly deeper role that Kane has been playing this season, with the striker now leading the assist charts in the Premier League.

Antonio admitted that he saw Kane as a selfish goal scorer, who likes getting on the end of chances but the Spurs striker has surprised him with his ability to bring others into play.

The Hammers forward told ITV’s Football Podcast: “Yes, I am not going to lie. I am quite surprised because with Harry Kane when you see him growing up throughout his career, you see him at the end of everything.

“You could even say that he was slightly greedy. He gets in front of goal and he’s shooting. No matter what. If someone’s there for an open goal for them, he goes for goal for himself.

“Now to see him being the assist man that he is right now, I think he has got six assists or something crazy, I am surprised by it.

“The thing is even against us, he’s popped up and taken the ball off the defender. He’s putting it in. Feeding beautiful balls in. So, he is coming on unbelievably.”
