‘We’ve lost our identity’ – Some Spurs fans left extremely worried by defeat against Southampton

Tottenham Hotspur put in yet another extremely poor performance against Southampton this afternoon and were overcome 1-0 by the hosts.

Jose Mourinho started with Moussa Sissoko and Tanguy Ndombele as the midfield pivots and Ryan Sessegnon at left-back in a back four.

Spurs suffered an early injury blow as Ndombele was withdrawn with a problem in the early moments of the first half. Southampton took the lead in the 17th minute through Danny Ings and Tottenham hardly threatened an equaliser before the interval.

Even in the second half, the Lillywhites struggled to create clear cut chances despite a lot of huffing and puffing. To make matters worse, Harry Kane also went off late in the game holding his hamstring.

Some Spurs fans were absolutely fuming at the result with many opining that the squad was in desperate need of new additions in the January transfer window.

Here’s how some fans reacted to the performance and result:

Spurs Web Opinion

The performances against Chelsea, Brighton, Norwich and now Southampton have all been poor. In all four of the games, the team has shown a lack of intensity and have struggled to create chances going forward. We have also made quite a lot of defensive mistakes. Jose Mourinho will now be under no illusions about the enormity of the job on his hands.
