What a confimed concussion would mean for Heung-min Son’s hopes of facing Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur face an anxious wait over the availability of Heung-min Son ahead of Sunday’s crunch Premier League match against Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s underperformers are the visitors to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as they look to salvage their hopes of a top four finish this season and are currently ten points behind Antonio Conte’s side.

Spurs also have the pressure of knowing that a defeat and victories for Newcastle United and Manchester United this weekend would see the north Londoners drop outside of the Champions League qualification places.

The Evening Standard report that Son is now a doubt for the match against the Reds after he had to be replaced during the first half of last night’s 2-1 Champions League victory in Marseille after he clashed heads with Chancel Mbemba.

Son was left dazed by the incident and was in no fit state to continue, having had to be helped to the touchline to undergo further assessment.

If Son has indeed sustained a concussion, Football Association rules stipulate that the South Korean must refrain from participating in any football activity whether training or matches for at least six days and would mean the earliest he could return to action is on Monday, a day after the Liverpool match takes place.

It would be a massive blow for Tottenham to be without Son for the visit of Liverpool, especially with Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison already on the sidelines. However, player’s health has to take priority in these instances and we wish Sonny a speedy recovery from what was a nasty collision.
