‘What a game’ – Kane, Dier, Romero and co react to win over Man City

Harry Kane, Lucas Moura, Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, and Ryan Sessegnon have taken to social media to express their delight after Tottenham’s thrilling 3-2 win over Manchester City.

Spurs went into the game as massive underdogs after three straight losses in the Premier League while City had not lost a league game since their defeat to Crystal Palace back in October.

However, Antonio Conte’s men signalled their intent early in the encounter as Harry Kane played a precise through ball to Son Heung-min, who beat the offside trap and squared it to Dejan Kulusevski to tap the ball into the net.

As expected, City dominated possession and despite the home side level the game through Ilkay Gundogan, Spurs continued to look threatening on the counter-attack.

Son and Kane combined again for Tottenham’s second goal just before the hour mark, with the South Korean turning provider this time as the England captain swept his cross home on the half volley.

It looked like City had rescued a point when Riyad Mahrez converted a penalty in stoppage time after the ball struck Cristian Romero’s hand in the box.

However, Spurs rallied again as Kane headed home Dejan Kulusevski’s cross deep into stoppage time to send the away end into pandemonium.

Heading into the game, I was concerned that a heavy loss would seriously dent the squad’s confidence on the back of our defeats at home to Southampton and Wolves.

However, the magnificent performance and result on Sunday should boost the players’ belief in Conte’s system. Hopefully, this result serves as the springboard to a sustained assault for a top-four finish.
