Tottenham have one foot in the Champions League quarter final after they overcame Borussia Dortmund 3-0 at Wembley last night. After what was a below par first half, the home side upped the intensity in the second half and created several chances.
All three goals in the end came from crosses into the box with Vertonghen’s cross being turned home by Son for the first, while the Belgian himself scored the second after a pin-point delivery by Serge Aurier.
Substitute Fernando Llorente then came up with a late header from a Christian Eriksen corner kick to give Spurs a 3-0 advantage going into the second leg in two weeks time.
Before the game there was some talk of tiredness as Tottenham had one less day to prepare for their game than their opponents as they played their League game against Leicester on Sunday.
However, the Tottenham players looked much sharper than their Dortmund counterparts on the pitch, as a white shirt seemed to be the first to every loose ball.
