While the former Liverpool captain has developed a strong Rangers side, Frank Lampard’s Derby Country are seeking promotion to the Premier League as they look forward to the playoff semi-final against Leeds United.
Both midfielders, who are Premier League legends, have reacted to Tottenham’s dramatic win over Ajax. The Rangers boss loved the outpouring of emotion from Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino at the final whistle.
Speaking to Rangers TV, Gerrard said, “What a performance from Spurs. And just to see the emotion and the reaction from Pochettino, I think it shows that football means to everyone.”
Meanwhile, Lampard praised the spirit that Tottenham showcased to get over the line on Sunday.
According to Derby’s official Twitter handle, the former Chelsea man said, “Everybody in football should take inspiration [from Liverpool and Spurs].
“These teams have huge quality, but sometimes you can get over the line with desire and spirit.”

It is great to see the recognition and adulation that Tottenham have received from the footballing world for the past few days. That is something we as Spurs fans are certainly not used to.
It looks like the pundits and experts once again have Spurs as the underdogs for the final, which will likely work into the hands of Pochettino and as Jurgen Klopp’s side will be under pressure to take the onus in the game.
