George Abbott has made a fine start to his spell at Notts County, impressing in his first start for the League Two side.

Tottenham have a number of exciting players coming through the ranks at the moment, with the likes of Mikey Moore, Alfie Devine, Will Lankshear, and Jamie Donley seen as potential future first-team players.

Amidst this overflow of talent, Abbott has gone a bit under the radar. The defensive midfielder, who was a key part of the Under-21s march to the Premier League 2 title last year, has been quietly impressing at Hotspur Way.

Alasdair Gold revealed last month on The Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast that the coaches have been pleased with the way the defensive midfielder has developed over the last 12 months.

George Abbott is already impressing

The 19-year-old now has a chance to show what he can do in senior football, and it appears he has started his spell at Meadow Lane in perfect fashion.

Abbott was hailed for his display after playing all 90 minutes in Notts County’s 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

A number of supporters even suggested that Abbott was worthy of the Man of the Match award on his first start for the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the comments on social media from Notts County fans, it is clear that Abbott has already won them over, with many convinced that he is special.

If the teenager continues impressing, I would not be surprised if Tottenham recalled him in January and sent him out on loan to a Championship side, just as they did with Alfie Devine last season.
