‘What a player’ – Van de Ven and Vicario are in awe of Tottenham teammate

Brennan Johnson’s Tottenham teammates praised the winger on social media after he played a key role in the Lilywhites’ turnaround against Luton Town.

Spurs desperately needed all three points on Saturday to keep pace with Aston Villa in the race for fourth and the afternoon did not get off to a good start, with Luton taking the lead in the third minute and managing to shut the home side out for the entirety of the first-half.

Ange Postecoglou introduced Johnson at half-time, with the pacy winger replacing Dejan Kulusevski, and he proved to be a menacing threat throughout the second period, posing all sorts of problems to Luton left-back Alfie Doughty.

Johnson had a key hand in both goals, with his cross being turned into his own net Issa Kabore for Tottenham’s equaliser before the Welshman took a brilliant touch in the 86th minute to lay off Timo Werner’s low cross to the onrushing Son Heung-min, whose deflected effort found its way into the back of the net.

Pape Sarr wrote: “What a player’, Micky van de Ven commented: “Top”, while Guglielmo Vicario responded with: “Game changer.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Whatever the opinion of Johnson is among football pundits and fans, it is clear that the winger is thought of quite highly by his peers at Spurs, who see him in training every day.

The 22-year-old has a huge ceiling and could potentially evolve into one of the best attackers in the Premier League over the next few years.
