‘What a shift’ – Some Spurs fans single out midfielder for praise in win over Arsenal

It is fair to say that Lucas Moura’s recent performances up until Sunday had left a lot to be desired in a Tottenham shirt.

The Brazilian was as culpable as any other attacking player for the team’s failure to create in the final third, failing to see passing options and giving the ball away of late.

Despite his poor form, Jose Mourinho kept faith with the Brazilian, with the 27-year-old finally repaying the Spurs boss’ faith in the all-important derby on Sunday.

Moura started on the left in a 4-4-2 formation and was tasked with helping Ben Davies to repel Arsenal’s attacks down their right-hand side, while also joining in the counter-attacks with the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.

The former PSG man excelled in the role as he not only proved defensively sharp enough to nullify the away side’s threat down his flank but was also one of Tottenham’s most creative players on the day.

Some Spurs fans were delighted to be proved wrong by Moura, with a few even suggesting that he could potentially be used as a full-back.

Spurs Web Opinion

Moura showed against Arsenal why Jose has so much faith in him as he proved that he could perform a role that requires a lot of tactical discipline. His work rate on Sunday was phenomenal but I was especially impressed with his vision and the choices he made on the ball, both areas that have let him down for large parts of the season.
