The result also puts Spurs in a commanding position in the to finish behind Manchester City and Liverpool with the lilywhites now sitting four points ahead of Arsenal in fifth, who travel to Wolves later tonight, and six clear of Manchester United in sixth who take on rivals City.

The game was anything but straightforward as Chris Hughton’s defended extremely deep throughout the ninety minutes. In fact, most of the match was played in the visitor’s final third but Spurs found it difficult to create clear cut chances.

The goal eventually arrived in the 88th minute courtesy of a fantastic left-footed strike from Christian Eriksen. The result meant that Mauricio Pochettino’s men once again managed to get over the line without their star striker Harry Kane.
