What has Tottenham’s win done to the race for the top four?

Tottenham Hotspur left it late against Brighton last night, but they got the job done in the end, with Christian Eriksen’s late strike securing all three points.

After chances from Dele Alli, Jan Vertonghen, and Toby Alderweireld all somehow evaded the back of the net, it didn’t look like it would be Spurs’ day.

However, in the 88th minute, up stepped Christian Eriksen from 25 yards on his left foot, arrowing a low shot into the bottom corner.

But, what has this done to the race for the top four in the Premier League?

It has put Tottenham firmly in the driver’s seat for Champions League football next season, as they pull three points clear of Chelsea.

Spurs are also now four ahead of Arsenal and six ahead of Manchester United, although both of these clubs have a game in hand and play tonight.

Tottenham also have a superior goal difference compared to their three rivals, with Spurs on +30, Chelsea on +21, Arsenal on +25, and Man United down on +15.
