“What have we done to deserve Trippier?” – Some Spurs fans react as Ajax lead 2-0 at half-time

Tottenham Hotspur are on the brink of elimination from the Champions League as they find themselves trailing 2-0 in the second against Ajax, and 3-0 on aggregate.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have played some enterprising football going forward at times but they look defensively suspect every time the hosts launch an attack.

Ajax took the lead early in the game after Matthijs de Ligt headed home from a corner after successfully evading the attentions of Kieran Trippier.

Spurs then came into the game and create a couple of great chances but the likes of Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen were wasteful with their finishing.

Ajax then doubled the lead through Hakim Ziyech after Trippier was caught out of position higher up the pitch as the Moroccan found the far corner past Lloris.

Spurs now need to score three goals in the second half without conceding in order to progress to the Champions League final.

Some Spurs fans on social media were raging at Trippier’s errors which have ended up costing the side once again. Check out how they reacted to the first half:

Spurs Web Opinion

As bleak as Tottenham’s prospects of getting to the final now seem, the game is not yet over.

If Spurs can come out and get an early goal in the second half, then the hosts can certainly panic. However, the Lilywhites have to be more decisive at the back as another goal from the hosts will completely kill the tie.
