Tottenham Hotspur broke their near 18-month transfer drought back in 2019 to bring in young Jack Clarke from Leeds United.

However, the North London club decided to loan the teenager straight back to his boyhood club for the season, likely to help his personal development.

Unfortunately, this somewhat backfired on the Lilywhites as Clarke struggled to break into the team at Leeds, playing in just one Championship game all season (TransferMarkt).

Clarke was given minutes in two League Cup fixtures earlier in the season, before being left out of the squad for six straight Championship squads.

Bielsa eventually started naming Clarke on the bench, but he was an unused substitute in 15 Championship matches, coming on for 19 minutes against Luton Town in his only appearance.

However, Clarke has now been recalled by Tottenham, although he may not be staying for long. Jose Mourinho has revealed that Spurs are looking to loan him out again.

He said (Football London): “I know it’s finished but the structure is looking for another loan where he can play. In this half-season he was not playing much and the objective of a loan is for the players to play. A loan without minutes is frustration loan. One is enough so the next one we must be sure is a club and a manager that really wants him to play.”
