What Pedro Porro tweeted and how he celebrated his goal this week amid Spurs links

Sporting Lisbon took on Vizela at home in the Primeira Liga this week and looked to be heading towards a draw before Tottenham-linked Pedro Porro stepped up.

The right-wing-back had already claimed an assist for teammate Pedro Goncalves earlier in the match, but Vizela equalised in the 75th minute to draw the game level.

When Sporting won a penalty in the dying seconds, Porro stepped up to stroke it home masterfully, winning the match in the 95th minute and sending the stadium into overdrive.

Despite his recent links with Tottenham, the defender showed his emotion and love for the club by grabbing the badge and almost ending up in the crowd during celebrations. He then took to Twitter to celebrate further.

When asked about his future at full-time, Porro told Cabine Desportiva“I’m not talking about the possibilities on the market – about staying nor about leaving. I’m focused on Sporting and I’m happy here.”

Record then reported that Spurs will make one final attempt to convince Sporting to sell their star asset this week. The Portuguese club have long since stuck to their demands of only selling if Porro’s release clause of £40 million is met (Guardian).

Spurs Web Opinion:

It seems strange that Spurs have lurked around for this long when the line always seems to be the same – release clause or nothing. Do they honestly think they can force Sporting to reduce their asking price, or are they actually prepared to pay the release clause as a last resort?
