What Perisic said about Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen at Spurs in the past

Ivan Perisic, who is reportedly bound for Tottenham, has expressed his admiration for both Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen in the past.

Perisic flew to London over the weekend and stayed at Hotspur Way last night ahead of undertaking his medical today (Dan Kilpatrick).

According to Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, Antonio Conte believes the Croat will help improve the mentality of the Spurs squad and will mentor Ryan Sessegnon to help the 21-year-old develop into a top wing-back.

If Perisic’s numbers from the left wing-back role this season are anything to go by, the likes of Kane will certainly be salivating at the thought of being on the end of the 33-year-old’s crosses.

It turns out that the Inter star has also raved about the England captain’s finishing in the past.

When asked by UEFA in 2018 (as relayed by The Daily Express) which player’s finishing technique he would like to have, Perisic responded: “I think the best finisher is Harry Kane from Tottenham.”

Eriksen is another player that Spurs have been credited with an interest in this summer on the back of Dane’s impressive showing for Brentford (90min).

Perisic played alongside Eriksen at Inter during the 2020/21 season but the experienced wide-man spoke in glowing terms about the midfielder’s quality on set-pieces ahead of his move from London to Milan.

Perisic is quoted as saying: “When it comes to free-kicks from distance I would choose Eriksen from Tottenham.”

Spurs Web Opinion

We would have scored a lot more goals this season had our wing-backs been more composed in the final third.

Doherty showed in the two months before he got injured, just how effective a competent wing-back can be in Conte’s system, given the number of times we create overloads out wide.

Perisic’s composure in the final third and his ability to cross with both feet will be a huge asset to Spurs next season if we snap up the Croat.
