Sandro Tonali has made his stance clear to Newcastle United after Tottenham Hotspur joined the race for the midfielder.

In a shock development, Roberto De Zerbi is now pushing to bring Tonali to Tottenham, with the midfielder and the Spurs head coach said to have a strong relationship.

However, Spurs face competition from the likes of Man City and Arsenal for the Newcastle man, who looks set to be the subject of a major transfer tussle over the coming weeks.

Some sources have suggested that Tonali is open to a move to Spurs, and a new update has now shed light on what the midfielder’s preferred destination is.

Tottenham target Sandro Tonali prefers to return to Italy

TEAMtalk have now also confirmed that De Zerbi’s side have become the latest club to express an interest in the Newcastle star.

The report reveals Tonali’s representatives have already informed the St James’ Park hierarchy that he wants to leave the club this summer.

However, it is revealed that the midfielder’s preferred option would be to return to Serie A this summer, with several Italian clubs circling.

AC Milan are thought to be interested in re-signing Tonali, while Juventus and Inter Milan are also said to be fans of the Italy international.

However, Newcastle’s mammoth asking price means that these clubs will find it difficult to fund the transfer, with a move within the Premier League appearing ‘the more realistic outcome’ for the 26-year-old this summer.

Newcastle’s Tonali valuation revealed as London move on the cards

TEAMtalk are backing what other sources are stating about the Magpies’ valuation of the player, revealing that it would take an offer of £100m for the club to even entertain a sale.

Eddie Howe’s men are determined to keep Tonali at St James’ Park, but this is not stopping the likes of Spurs, Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea from exploring a deal for the former Milan star.

The publication adds that there is a ‘growing belief’ among those close to Tonali that a move to London could be the ‘most likely destination’ for the Newcastle star this summer.
