What Serge Aurier said after his two-goal display at Tranmere

Serge Aurier played down his two goals during the 7-0 win against Tranmere Rovers by instead insisting the club must focus on their next match.

Aurier is known for his crazy antics and dances on social media but did his talking on the pitch at Prenton Park last night.

The League Two side started the match well and nearly held Mauricio Pochettino’s side to a goalless first half.

With 40 minutes played, the Tranmere striker failed to hold onto the ball which allowed Juan Foyth to toe the ball to Aurier, who unleashed a 25-yard effort that took a slight deflection and beyond Scott Davies in the Tranmere goal.

The Ivorian doubled his tally for the season moments into the second half after some fine play from Heung-min Son allowed Aurier to drill the ball home. Until last night, he had not found the back of the net since March.

He told BT Sport as quoted by the BBC: “I’m happy for my two goals and happy for the team that we won today. We were a good team and want to keep going for the next round.

“It was a big moment for me and the team, and today we won a good game. Now we must stay focused for the next game.”
