Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes, who is set to leave Old Trafford when his contract runs out this week has fond memories of Jose Mourinho’s time at the club.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that the 19-year-old has not been able to agree on a contract extension with the former Premier League champions and that his departure is inevitable (ESPN).
The teenager is considered one of the most promising talents to have emerged from the United academy in recent years.
Reports indicate that Chelsea are interested in snapping up Gomes, but Spurs have not been mentioned as possible suitors for the youngster’s signature (Football.London).
However, Gomes seemingly has a good relationship with Mourinho after the current Tottenham boss handed the midfielder his first-team debut for United during his time in charge.
The United academy graduate took to social media to send the following message to the ‘special one’ after he was relieved of his duties as United manager in December 2018:
You allowed me to make my debut at 16 and play in front of the Stretford end something I will never forget ever. Thank you boss ✨ pic.twitter.com/mzpiAJFc6V

Spurs Web Opinion
Angel Gomes can potentially be a real star in the future and given that he appears to be available on a free, I believe we should be all over this deal. He seems to have a decent relationship with Jose Mourinho. Hopefully, we can use that to our advantage to try and beat Chelsea to his signature.
