What Thomas Frank thinks about Brennan Johnson’s role and future at Tottenham

A journalist has revealed whether Brennan Johnson has a future at Tottenham Hotspur under Thomas Frank.

Frank has had a major problem in the left-wing role this season. He has tried Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel and Xavi Simons in that position, but none have really set the world alight.

Now, it appears the Dane is trying something different by playing Mohammed Kudus as a number ten, which has allowed space for Johnson on the right, while he appears to be persisting with Xavi on the left.

Some have wondered if Tottenham will cash in on the Wales international, but according to a new update, that is not on the cards in January.

Brennan Johnson believes he has a future at Tottenham

Journalist Graeme Bailey has now said that even though the former Nottingham Forest man has not been a regular in the Spurs starting line-up, Thomas Frank values his attributes.

He made it clear that the 24-year-old is not thinking about leaving the club and remains determined to prove his worth under the new regime.

Bailey told TBR Football: “Brennan Johnson is determined that he has a future at Spurs and can convince Thomas Frank that he can be a key player for him. We understand Frank likes Johnson and believes he is capable of playing at a high level, but the consistency factor is a worry.

“Like with the whole Spurs squad, Frank is getting to grips with how he sees it going forward, what work needs to be done. The fact Spurs are still in the market for another wide player may be an indication that Johnson has work to do to convince Frank that he has a long-term future.”

What Thomas Frank has said about Johnson

Just over a week ago, Frank referred to Johnson as a ‘really important player’ for Tottenham, insisting that it is just about finding him the correct role in his system.

Previously, the Spurs boss said that he is a big fan of Johnson’s ability to arrive in the box at the right time, admitting that the 24-year-old does that better than the other forwards at the club.

The former Forest man will hope that he has a run in the starting eleven over the next few weeks and is able to find his goalscoring boots.
