Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United now know exactly what they must do if they are to avoid relegation on the final day of the Premier League season.
The battle for Premier League survival is still finely poised, much to the disappointment of Spurs and the delight of West Ham United heading into the final gameweek of the Premier League season.
The Hammers needed a big helping hand from London rivals Chelsea after they slipped up in their matchup against Newcastle United, where they lost 2-1 to give themselves any hope of survival in matchweek 38.
The Blues did come to the aid of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side as they beat Tottenham 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, leaving the Lilywhites with much to think about when Everton visit Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
That defeat leaves the Premier League table as it was heading into the final matchweek, with Spurs still two points clear of the Hammers and holding a superior goal difference.

Tottenham know what is needed against Everton
Tottenham’s fate remains in their own hands, which is a huge bonus in this race to avoid relegation. The Lilywhites now need to secure a draw or a win against Everton if they are to retain their status as a Premier League side.
The Toffees themselves do not have much to play for this season, with the European places mathematically out of reach as they prepare to face Spurs.
However, with former West Ham United boss David Moyes in the dugout, he will surely be motivated to lend his former side a helping hand as the Hammers continue to rely on favours from elsewhere.
Everton also had a major say in the Premier League title race a few weeks ago when they battled against Manchester City and took a point off Pep Guardiola’s men, tilting the race in favour of Arsenal.
They now have the chance to affect the relegation fight, and Spurs must be prepared for a spirited performance despite Everton’s poor form, which has left them winless in their last five games.

West Ham must beat Leeds and hope Spurs lose
West Ham, on the other hand, does not have their destiny in their own hands and will continue to rely on favours from elsewhere.
However, while they will be keen for Everton to beat Spurs, they too must do their job if they are to leapfrog Tottenham and finish in 17th place.
They are up against Leeds United, who are in superb form. The Whites have managed three wins in their last five and come into this clash after beating European-chasing Brighton 1-0 last time out. The highest Leeds can finish is 11th, but results elsewhere must still go their way.

The higher they finish, the more Premier League prize money they earn, so they will be pushing for victory this weekend.
West Ham cannot afford to draw this match and simply need all three points, alongside a Tottenham defeat, to secure their Premier League status. Anything else will see them relegated to the Championship.
